Privacy Policy
Summary
This policy explains what GK Enterprise LLC, which does business as Crewhand ("we", "us"), collects through the SkyCheck apps for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android and Wear OS and the skycheck.app website, why, who receives it, how long we keep it and the choices you have.
In short: SkyCheck shows no ads inside the app. We collect what's needed to run your account, the features you use and your subscription. When you agree to the Terms, you also agree that we may:
- use analytics and crash reports to see how SkyCheck is used and fix problems;
- share limited app activity and device advertising identifiers with Google and Meta to measure and personalize our own ads for SkyCheck;
- send you product news and offers by email.
You can turn off personalized ads and product emails in Settings › Privacy at any time. We never use your location, flight log, messages or photos for ads, we don't sell your information to data brokers, and we don't use it to train AI models.
Effective October 8, 2026.
What we collect
- Account details: email address, user ID, sign-in method, and your name if Apple or Google shares it.
- What you save: drones and their limits, saved spots, flight log, settings and LAANC requests.
- What you post: marketplace listings, messages, community posts, comments, votes, follows, group flights, photos, reports and blocks.
- Location: the places you save or choose, rounded coordinates sent to get a forecast, and, only if you turn on lightning or airspace alerts, your device's latest location rounded to about 1 km.
- Device identifiers: push notification tokens, Firebase installation IDs and, if you allow it, your device's advertising identifier (on iPhone only after you allow tracking in Apple's prompt).
- App activity: the screens you open and features you use (for example adding a drone, saving a spot or starting a trial), with your device type, app version, approximate region and session times.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and performance data.
- Purchases: your SkyCheck Pro plan, its status, price and the store's purchase ID (never your card details).
- Records: when you accepted these Terms, your email preferences and moderation records.
- Technical data: your IP address and request details, which our servers and providers see when your device connects.
- On the website: page views without cookies, and, if you click Accept, Meta's advertising cookies.
We don't collect contacts, browsing history from other apps or websites, or health data.
Your account
When you create an account we store your email address, a user ID, the sign-in method you used (Apple, Google or email), and your name if Apple or Google shares it. If you use Sign in with Apple's "Hide My Email", we receive a private relay address instead. Passwords are stored only as secure hashes. Accounts are hosted by Supabase, our database and sign-in provider, in the United States. We also record which version of the Terms you accepted, when, and on which platform.
Data saved to your account
Your drone profiles (drone model, limits, how you fly, and their order), saved spots (name, coordinates, order, favorites and alert choices), flight log, and settings (units, the drone you're flying today, the forecast place you picked, flying-window and alert options, how your log is sorted, map layers and style, and the starting values for new LAANC requests) are saved to your account so they sync across your devices. Other members can't see them. When you delete a log entry, spot or drone, its contents are erased from our servers within 30 days; a record that the item was deleted (its ID and time) is kept for about 6 months so your other devices remove it too. When you sign out, your data is removed from that device but stays in your account.
Your flight log
Log entries include the date, duration, drone, location name and coordinates, client, notes, and the forecast conditions at the time. If you log flights for clients, you're responsible for having their permission to record their details.
LAANC requests
When you request a LAANC authorization, the flight area, altitude, times, flight type and name you enter are sent to our LAANC provider (currently Airspace Link) and stored with your account so you can see their status. You enter your pilot details, such as name, phone and certificate number, on the provider's own page; they're handled under the provider's privacy policy and sent to the FAA as LAANC requires. If you save an authorization you got on Airspace Link's AirHub Portal, SkyCheck stores the details you enter (area, altitude, times, drone and the FAA reference code) with your account in the same way.
Notifications
If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token with your account so our server can alert you, for example when someone replies to you, votes on or comments on your posts, follows you, messages you or saves your listing, when a group flight you're going to changes or is about to start, when the weather at a place you watch goes outside your limits, when there's lightning or a TFR or NOTAM within your chosen range, or when a LAANC request changes status. You can choose which notifications you get in Settings.
On iPhone, push tokens come from Apple's push service. On Android, they come from Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging, which also uses a Firebase installation ID; SkyCheck starts Firebase only after you've accepted these Terms and signed in. For live cards on your Lock Screen, such as a group flight or a LAANC authorization (Live Activities on iPhone, ongoing notifications on Android), we store that card's update token, its kind, the group flight or LAANC request it follows and its latest status until the card ends.
To reach your device, a notification's text passes through Apple's or Google's push service. That text can include a member's public name and the start of their message or comment. Signing out removes the tokens for that device. The civil twilight reminder and flying-window reminders are scheduled on your device and don't use our server.
Subscriptions
Purchases are made through Apple's App Store or Google Play; we never see your payment details. When you subscribe, the purchase is linked to your SkyCheck user ID, and our server checks it with Apple or Google, which also tell our server about renewals, cancellations and refunds. We store your plan, its status, expiry date, auto-renew setting and the store's transaction or purchase ID with your account, so Pro works wherever you sign in.
Your location
With your permission, the app uses your device's location to show the forecast and airspace where you are. To get a forecast, the app sends approximate coordinates (rounded to about 1 km) to our weather provider, Open-Meteo, or to our server, which passes them on to Open-Meteo. If you turn on weather change alerts, watch a saved spot, or have an approved LAANC authorization with LAANC alerts on, our server checks the weather about every 10 minutes for your chosen forecast place (already saved with your settings), the watched spot, or the authorization's area, sending rounded coordinates to Open-Meteo. For measured wind at the nearest airport, the app sends an area of about 130 km around the forecast place to NOAA's Aviation Weather Center. To show radar, it requests radar images for the map area around the forecast place from NOAA, and forecast radar images for that area from the Iowa Environmental Mesonet at Iowa State University. To show airspace, it sends the map area on screen to the FAA's map service or to our server. To show wind around buildings, it requests the outlines of buildings within about 260 m of the forecast place from OpenStreetMap's Overpass service (run by the FOSSGIS association in Germany) or through our server; building data is kept on your device for 30 days. If the forecast is set to Current location and you allow location access all the time, the app also updates the forecast and your widgets when you've moved about 2 miles, even when it's closed; this location stays on your device apart from the rounded coordinates sent to get the forecast. Apart from lightning and airspace alerts (below), we don't store your device's location on our servers.
Lightning and airspace alerts
If you turn on lightning alerts or TFR and NOTAM alerts, our server checks recent lightning from NOAA's GOES weather satellites, and the FAA's temporary flight restrictions and drone-related NOTAMs, against your forecast place, watched spots and LAANC areas. If you also allow location access, the app sends your device's location, rounded to about 1 km, when you open SkyCheck, from time to time in the background, and, with all-the-time access, when you move about 500 m, so the server can check near you too. Only the latest location is kept, with your user ID. It's deleted when you turn these alerts off, when you sign out, and after 3 hours without an update, and it's used only for these alerts. To avoid repeating an alert, we record which alerts we've sent you, for up to 30 days. To look up NOTAMs, our server asks the FAA's NOTAM service about areas around watched places, without saying who is asking. Lightning flashes, TFRs and NOTAMs themselves are public data and aren't linked to anyone.
Marketplace
If you use the marketplace, we store the name you choose to show other members, your listings (title, description, price, condition, photos, and an approximate location rounded to about 1 km), listings you save, people you block, reports you make, and your messages with other members. Listings and your public name, profile photo and bio are shown to other signed-in members. Messages are visible only to you and the other member, except that our staff may review messages that are reported, to enforce the Terms of Use. When you save a listing, the seller is told someone saved it, not who. When you delete a listing, its photos and chats are deleted; when you delete your account, all of your marketplace data is deleted, including your conversations.
Community
If you use the community, we store your posts, comments, photos, votes, the people you follow, group flights you post or go to, reports you make and people you block. Posts, comments, photos, your public name and karma are shown to other signed-in members. Your votes aren't shown publicly, but when you upvote a post or comment its author is notified with your public name; downvotes are anonymous. If you post a group flight, its meeting place and time are shown to other members. When you say you're going to a group flight, its organizer is notified and other members can see that you're going; when you check in, we store the time you checked in, not your location. Anything you attach from SkyCheck (a flight, spot or conditions) shows its place rounded to about 1 km. Deleting a post or comment removes its text and photos; deleting your account deletes all of your community data.
Photos
Location data is removed from photos before they're uploaded. Photos you add to listings, posts or your profile are stored by Supabase at web addresses that are long, random and not published outside SkyCheck, but anyone who has a photo's address can open it without signing in. Don't post photos you want kept private.
Maps and search
On iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, maps, place search and address lookups use Apple Maps under Apple's privacy policy. On Android, maps use the Google Maps SDK and place search and address lookups use your device's geocoder (usually provided by Google), under Google's privacy policy; they receive the map area and search text along with your device's IP address.
Watch apps and widgets
The Apple Watch and Wear OS apps and the home-screen widgets show data from your phone. Your phone sends it to the watch through Apple's Watch Connectivity or Google Play services' Wear OS data layer, and it isn't sent to our servers on the way.
Data stored on your device
Your device's notification permission, its current location, and cached forecast, satellite, airspace and community data are stored on your device. When the forecast is set to Current location, your position isn't saved to your account. Deleting the app deletes this data.
Analytics and crash reports
After you accept the Terms, the apps send app activity and crash reports to Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Crashlytics, linked to your SkyCheck user ID (not your name or email). We use them to understand which features are used, how many people start a trial or subscribe, and to find and fix crashes. They never include your location, flight log, notes, messages or photos. Google processes this data for us under its terms for Firebase.
Ads measurement and personalization
We advertise SkyCheck on Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). To measure those ads and show them to people likely to want SkyCheck, the apps tell Google (through Firebase) and Meta when key things happen, such as installing, signing up, starting a trial or subscribing, together with your device's advertising identifier if you allow it. Google and Meta may combine this with what they know about you under their own privacy policies, for example to avoid showing you SkyCheck ads after you subscribe or to find similar people. Under some U.S. state laws this may count as "selling" or "sharing" personal information for targeted advertising.
You can opt out at any time: turn off Personalized ads in Settings › Privacy, which stops this sharing from that point on. On iPhone, SkyCheck also asks your permission to track with Apple's prompt, and doesn't use your advertising identifier unless you allow it; on Android you can also delete or reset your advertising ID in your device's settings. On the website, Meta's cookies load only if you click Accept, and we treat a Global Privacy Control signal as a Reject.
Product emails
We add your account's email address to our mailing list, run by Loops, to send you product news, tips and offers. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also turn off "Product news and offers by email" in Settings › Privacy; we'll stop within 10 business days. We keep a record of when you subscribed or unsubscribed so we respect your choice. Account and security emails are sent regardless.
The skycheck.app website
The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes your IP address and request to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, and counts page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which doesn't use cookies or identify you. If you click Accept on the cookie banner, the Meta Pixel loads and sets Meta's cookies to measure our ads (for example, page views and clicks on the App Store or Google Play buttons). If you click Reject, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, it doesn't load. You can change your choice with the Privacy choices link at the bottom of every page.
How we use information
We use the information above to provide and sync SkyCheck's features, send the alerts you choose, provide Pro, answer support requests, keep members safe and enforce the Terms (for example, reviewing reports), protect SkyCheck against fraud and abuse, understand and improve how SkyCheck is used, measure and personalize our own advertising as described above, send you product emails, and meet legal obligations. We don't show ads inside SkyCheck, we don't sell your information to data brokers, and we don't use your content to train AI models or give it to anyone to do so.
Who receives information
- Service providers that run SkyCheck for us, such as Supabase (database, sign-in, storage), Cloudflare (hosting, website analytics and our weather proxy), Apple and Google (app stores, subscriptions, notifications and maps), Google Firebase (analytics and crash reports), Loops (product emails), Open-Meteo (weather) and Airspace Link (LAANC). They may use it only to provide their service to us. The full list is at skycheck.app/subprocessors.
- Advertising partners: Google and Meta receive app activity and advertising identifiers as described in "Ads measurement and personalization", unless you opt out.
- Public data services (NOAA, the Iowa Environmental Mesonet, OpenStreetMap's Overpass service, CelesTrak, the FAA and Esri) see your device's IP address and the area requested when the app contacts them.
- Other members see what you choose to post or share, as described above.
- The FAA receives LAANC requests through the LAANC provider.
- Authorities, if the law requires it, or if we believe in good faith it's needed to protect someone's safety or our rights.
- A company that takes over SkyCheck, which must keep this policy's promises for the data it receives.
We don't sell your personal information for money or to data brokers. Sharing app activity and identifiers with Google and Meta for advertising may be a "sale" or "sharing" under some state laws; in the past 12 months we have done this only as described here, and you can opt out as described above.
Who at SkyCheck can see your data
A small number of authorized people at GK Enterprise LLC can use our admin tools to help you with support requests, review reports, manage subscriptions and access, and investigate abuse. They can look up an account by email, name or user ID and see its sign-in method, last sign-in, subscription status, ban status, reports and reported messages. Their actions are logged. They don't browse members' data for any other reason.
How long we keep information

Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Virginia and other U.S. states), you may have the right to know what personal information we have about you and how we use it, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale, "sharing", targeted advertising or profiling. To opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising, turn off Personalized ads in Settings › Privacy or email us; on the website we honor Global Privacy Control. For other requests, email support@skycheck.app from your account's email address, or tell us that address so we can confirm it's you. An authorized agent can make a request for you with your signed permission. We'll answer within 45 days. If we turn down your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and we'll respond to the appeal within 45 days. We won't treat you differently for using these rights.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, access to it is limited to you and the members you share with by database rules, passwords are stored only as secure hashes, and staff access is limited and logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your personal information, we'll notify you as the law requires.
Where data is processed
SkyCheck is offered in the United States. Your account data is stored by Supabase in the United States. Rounded coordinates sent to get forecasts and building outlines go to Open-Meteo in Switzerland and OpenStreetMap's Overpass service in Germany.
Children
SkyCheck isn't directed at children under 13, and you must be at least 13 to use it. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13; if we learn that we have, we'll delete it. We don't knowingly use the information of users under 16 for personalized ads or sell it; if you're under 16, please keep Personalized ads off. If you're a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has an account, email support@skycheck.app.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update it in the app and on skycheck.app/privacy and change the effective date. If a change is material, we'll ask you to review it in the app.
